Most of Chinese Wushu comes from Buddhism and Taoism. According to the actual data, there are six genres of Wushu inheritance in reality: Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Qingcheng, Kunlun and Kongtong.

I. Shaolin School

The Shaolin School originated from the Shaolin Temple and is located under the Wuru Peak of Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng County, Henan Province. Shaolin Temple, originally the ancestral court of Zen Buddhism in the Han Dynasty, was built in the nineteenth year of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (495). At that time, the northern Tianzhu monk, Batuo, came here from the Western Regions. The Wudang School began in Yuan Dynasty and flourished in Ming Dynasty. It was founded by the ancestor Zhang Sanfeng. Zhang Sanfeng, the original name of Zhang Quanyi, the word Junbao, Liaoning people. In the first year of the Yuan Dynasty, he was appointed Boling Ling Ling of Zhongshan. Emei School originated from Emei Mountain and is located in Emeishan City, Sichuan Province. Nowadays, the Emei School recognized the three ancestors of Emei as Xuankong, the White Ape master in the Warring States Period, Baiyun Zen Master in Linji Sect of Buddhism in the Southern Song Dynasty and elder Deyuan.

6. Kongtong School

Kongtong School, originating from Kongtong Mountain, is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province. It belongs to Taoist Wushu. According to legend, it was created by Feihongzi, a Gansu native in Tang Dynasty. The name of Kongtong School of Wu appeared in Song Dynasty, when Xixia broke through Dingchuan Village in Guyuan, Ningxia, and drove straight to Pingliang.

Tens of thousands of people fled to Kongtong Mountain, followed by the Xixia Army.
